The school boasts several dedicated sports academies in Rugby, Swimming, Golf, Shooting, Tennis, Football, and Cricket. In 2020, it was named by Tatler magazine as one of the UK’s top 5 schools for future Olympians. Students can also take part in Archery, Badminton, Fitness, or Netball. Close ties with local cross-country and swimming clubs open up opportunities for Triathlon, Biathlon, and Pentathlon too. Outstanding athletics facilities include two long jump pits, a high-jump area, a discus circle, and running tracks.
Creative Arts
Music, Art, and Drama flourish at Ellesmere College, offering students plenty of room for creative expression. A wide range of instruments is taught, and students can join the Jazz Band, Orchestra, Flute Choir, or String Ensemble. The art department provides excellent facilities for fine art, fashion and textiles, digital photography, and multimedia. Student artwork is regularly exhibited, and trips to galleries — such as the British Museum and Tate Modern in London — inspire further creativity. In Drama, weekly clubs and school productions, including classics like Romeo & Juliet, invite students to take to the stage.

Ellesmere College is one of just 39 schools worldwide to hold the High Performance Learning World Class School Accreditation. Students can choose GCSEs, A-Levels, BTECs, or the IB Diploma. Alongside core subjects like Mathematics, History, and Spanish, students can explore more distinctive subjects such as Theatre Studies, Psychology, Business Studies, and Computer Science. The academic results speak for themselves: a 100% pass rate at A-Level, with over 75% of grades at A*-B. The school is also a member of CReSTeD (Council for the Registration of Schools Teaching Dyslexic Pupils), ensuring individual support for students with learning difficulties.
