For hockey talent, Framlingham is simply a must. The school has become one of the premier hockey schools in the UK, with two students currently in the GB elite hockey programme. Its sporting facilities are equally impressive: two floodlit all-weather astro pitches, an indoor hockey pitch, and a state-of-the-art 360-sport intelligence system (featuring ten cameras that record and analyse live games) — all dedicated to hockey. But that’s not all: other major sports — rugby, netball, cricket, tennis, golf, riding, and shooting — are also well supported and coached. The breadth and quality of sport here are remarkable for a school of this size. The swimming pool and fitness centre are also extremely popular with students.
Creative & Performing Arts
Art at GCSE is very popular, but Design Technology really shines — with two modern workshops (including 3D printers and laser cutters), two design studios, a computer design suite, and even a jewellery workshop. Talented artists can aim for the prestigious Arts Award, and musical and dramatic talents are equally celebrated. The school’s own productions have even reached the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Students benefit from the impressive 250-seat Headmaster Porter Theatre, two drama studios, and a brand-new recording studio. Many graduates go on to the UK’s top arts universities, such as Leeds or University of the Arts London.
Pastoral Care and Enrichment

Framlingham’s academic results reflect this: 56% of A-levels are awarded at A*/A, and the majority of students progress to top British universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. We’re also impressed by the school’s modern approach: as a Microsoft Showcase School (2021), it leads the way in integrating technology effectively into learning. Outdated teaching methods and dusty old textbooks are a thing of the past here.
