Roedean School in Detail
Drama at its Finest
Theatre at Roedean is excellent. On this sunny campus, any girl with a passion for theatre will feel right at home. Whether an aspiring director, producer, actress, or set designer — they are all needed here and receive first-class training in both theory and practice. The school’s own theatre produces three major productions each year, and there are plenty of opportunities to perform in smaller groups too. In the last three years, they have staged productions such as Matilda, Romeo and Juliet, Hairspray, and Peter Pan. Roedean also takes part in national playwriting programmes and the National Student Drama Festival; several girls are also current members of the National Youth Theatre. The school quite literally invests in its pupils. For example, with a scholarship, one student recently participated in a turtle conservation project in Kefalonia, Greece, and had a fantastic time. We’re also impressed by the wide range of clubs, the modern dance studio, and the opportunities available for sports scholars.
Academics
One-to-one mentoring and guidance sessions with tutors, sixth-form leaders and higher education advisers help ensure that an impressive 82% of pupils achieve A*-A grades in their A-levels. Truly remarkable! In 2015, Roedean even introduced its unique Air, Land, and Sea Awards, which support an activity or trip during the summer between Year 12 and 13, focusing on personal development. Examples include volunteering in hospitals in Tanzania and Costa Rica, whale and dolphin conservation in Tenerife, or a study trip to visit classical Roman sites in Italy. Anyone can apply. Alongside the traditional academic subjects, the curriculum also offers Photography, Textiles, Accounting, and Greek, to name just a few.
Sport
Physical fitness is considered part of an excellent education at Roedean. The school is proud of its indoor swimming pool, golf course, and modern dance studio. The school is becoming increasingly competitive across a range of sports, including cricket, volleyball, and football. Roedean has also produced national champions in athletics, table tennis, and street dance. This is made possible in part through supportive sports scholarships, which offer talented athletes a comprehensive year-round programme with masterclasses and workshops led by sports physiologists, nutritionists, and top-level coaches. Of course, all other sports players are warmly welcome too — Roedean lives by its motto: “Sport is for everyone.”
Co-curricular Life
When the laptops are closed, the girls have countless opportunities to discover new hobbies.
For example, Roedean runs its own farm, where the girls can develop an awareness of the environment, food, and sustainability. They can also get involved in fundraising, delve into archaeology, or try their hand at creative writing. The numerous clubs — including swimming, karate, teatime, art and book clubs — are always happy to welcome new members. Particularly charming are the Origami and Astronomy clubs. With five school-owned telescopes, the girls can explore the universe and maybe even discover a new planet! The range of activities is vast.
This is Roedean!

Our roots lie in the UK. For years, we have placed 200–300 families annually into British boarding schools. While our portfolio now includes schools beyond Britain, the UK remains at the heart of what we do.
Our tailored approach results in exceptional acceptance rates. For example, in 2022/23, all seven students we placed at the highly selective Malvern College received offers – a 100% success rate.
We arrange for prospective families to speak with our current students to hear first-hand accounts of life at a UK boarding school.
