Worksop College in Detail

Wide-Ranging Extracurricular Programme

What we find particularly special about Worksop College is its breathtaking extracurricular programme: outdoor activities like mountain biking, hiking, and camping in the woods; community projects; business and life skills workshops; karate, Zumba, chess clubs, even singing competitions and communal barbecues take place regularly. Pupils can also get involved socially — whether planting trees or raising funds for the local food bank, volunteering is an integral part of the Worksop experience.

Sport

The well-equipped sports department has already produced a number of top athletes, particularly in athletics, cricket, and especially hockey. The school’s 300 acres provide ample space, including its own 18-hole golf course. Worksop College — with its in-house Golf Analysis Room and Trackman — can call itself one of the best golf schools in England. We think the range of sports is impressive for a school of its size. Other sports include football, tennis, climbing on the school’s own climbing wall, sailing, and athletics. Additionally, the college boasts tennis, hockey, cricket, and squash courts, a swimming pool, and a modern fitness centre.

Academic

Worksop offers an astonishing range of GCSE and A-Level subjects: students can choose from 30 subjects, ranging from classics such as Maths and Economics to unique options like Design Technology, Photography, Fine Art, and Food & Nutrition. Academic subjects play an important role, of course, but just as important is the intensive pastoral care and a healthy balance between effort and enjoyment, fostering new hobbies in a playful way. Pupils meet weekly with their teachers to discuss progress, worries, or concerns. The school also provides comprehensive career guidance.

Music and Drama

For musicians, there are 12 practice rooms, a state-of-the-art recording studio, a technology suite, a dedicated choir, and a 120-seat concert hall featuring a Grotrian-Steinweg piano. The music department offers everything from classical vocal and instrumental tuition to contemporary music education. The school also has its own chapel. Whether acting, singing, dancing, playing an instrument — jazz, classical, pop, or musical theatre — every style of music and artistic expression is warmly welcomed. Additional speech and drama lessons are also available.

Photos From Our Visit

Our Visit

We already expected a magical atmosphere here, but when we set foot on the campus, we were truly left speechless by its beauty. We were particularly impressed by the modern facilities, such as the 3D printer, climbing wall, and creative workshops scattered across the extensive grounds. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the wonderfully engaging and pleasant interview with Headmaster Dr. Price in the cathedral.

What Makes Akademis Stand Out?

  • We remain your trusted contact throughout your child’s stay, well beyond the placement process.
  • We provide support with guardianshipvisa applications and recognition of qualifications within the German school system.
  • We offer fully tailored advice. Our school recommendations are unique to each child and can run to 40 pages in length.
  • Families receive our 30+ page boarding school guide, packed with practical tips and insights.
  • We prepare your child thoroughly for entrance exams and interviews to maximise their chances of success.
  • We arrange school visits, ensuring you have the opportunity to experience each school first-hand.

Every boarding school has its own character and ethos. Having personally visited more than 100 schools, we understand these nuances. We also work with schools that do not pay commission, ensuring that our advice remains independent and always in the best interest of your child.

Our roots lie in the UK. For years, we have placed 200–300 families annually into British boarding schools. While our portfolio now includes schools beyond Britain, the UK remains at the heart of what we do.

Our tailored approach results in exceptional acceptance rates. For example, in 2022/23, all seven students we placed at the highly selective Malvern College received offers – a 100% success rate.

We arrange for prospective families to speak with our current students to hear first-hand accounts of life at a UK boarding school.
